8.전도자가 이르되 헛되고 헛되도다 모든 것이 헛되도다 9.전도자는 지혜자이어서 여전히 백성에게 지식을 가르쳤고 또 깊이 생각하고 연구하여 잠언을 많이 지었으며 10.전도자는 힘써 아름다운 말들을 구하였나니 진리의 말씀들을 정직하게 기록하였느니라 11.지혜자들의 말씀들은 찌르는 채찍들 같고 회중의 스승들의 말씀들은 잘 박힌 못 같으니 다 한 목자가 주신 바이니라 12.내 아들아 또 이것들로부터 경계를 받으라 많은 책들을 짓는 것은 끝이 없고 많이 공부하는 것은 몸을 피곤하게 하느니라 13.일의 결국을 다 들었으니 하나님을 경외하고 그의 명령들을 지킬지어다 이것이 모든 사람의 본분이니라 14.하나님은 모든 행위와 모든 은밀한 일을 선악 간에 심판하시리라. He pondered and searched out and set in order many proverbs. 10.The Teacher searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true. 11.The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails--given by one Shepherd. 12.Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body. 13.Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. 14.For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. '헛되고 헛되며 모든 것이 헛될 뿐이다!' 9.전도자는 지혜로운 사람이었기 때문에 자기가 아는 것을 사람들에게 계속 가르쳤으며 그는 또 깊이 생각하고 연구하는 중에 많은 금언을 모아 정리하였다. 10.이 전도자는 바르고 고운 말을 찾으려고 애썼으므로 그가 기록한 것은 거짓이 없고 진실하다. 11.지혜로운 자들의 말은 양떼를 모는 채찍 같고 그들이 수집한 명언은 잘 박힌 못과 같은 것이니 그것은 다 우리의 목자 되시는 하나님이 주신 것이다. 12.내 아들아, 이 밖에 조심할 일이 있다. 아무리 책을 많이 써도 끝이 없으니 지나치게 공부하는 것은 몸을 피곤하게 할 뿐이다. 13.이제 모든 것을 다 들었으니 결론은 이것이다. 하나님을 두려운 마음으로 섬기고 그의 명령에 순종하라. 이것이 사람의 본분이다. 14.선하건 악하건 하나님은 우리가 하는 모든 일을 은밀한 것까지 다 심판하실 것이다. He listened carefully to many proverbs, studying and classifying them. 10.The Teacher sought to find just the right words to express truths clearly. 11.The words of the wise are like cattle prods—painful but helpful. Their collected sayings are like a nail-studded stick with which a shepherd drives the sheep. 12.But, my child, let me give you some further advice: Be careful, for writing books is endless, and much study wears you out. 13.That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty. 14.God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.

INTRODUCTION: [오치누레바(濡れた落葉)] – “젖은 낙엽” - Wet Leaves
젖은 낙엽은 되지 말자! 일본의 주부들은 직장에서 정년퇴직을 하고 집안에 죽치고 들어앉은 늙은 남편을, ‘오치누레바'(濡れた落葉)라고 부른다. 우리말로는 ‘젖은 낙엽’ 이라는 뜻이다.
마른 낙엽은 산들 바람에도 잘 날아가지만, 젖은 낙엽은 한번 눌어붙으면 빗자루로 쓸어도 땅 바닥에서 떨어질 줄 모른다. ‘오치누레바’ 라는 뜻은 집안에서 정년 퇴직후의 늙은 남편을 부인이 밖으로 쓸어내고 싶어도 착 달라붙어 떨어지지 않아 부담스런 존재라는 뜻으로 당사자인 우리 노인들에게는 심히 모욕적인 표현이다.
노인들이여! 늙었다고 절대 기죽지말자. '나도 할 수 있다’는 자신감과 용기를 갖자.
꿈까지 잃게 되면 '젖은 낙엽’ 신세로 전락해 외롭고 긴 인생 여정의 막다른 길로 내몰리게 된다.
인생의 빛은 아침보다 황혼이 더 찬란한 법이다.
우리는 '젖은 낙엽'은 되지 맙시다. ㅡ샬롬 ㅡ
Don't be a Wet Leaf! Japanese housewives call an old husband who retires from work and settles down at home "ochinureba" (濡れた落葉). In Japanese, it means "wet leaves".
Dry leaves can blow away in a breeze, but wet leaves, once stuck, cannot be swept off the ground, even with a broom. "Ochinureba" means that an old husband who has retired from work is a burden in the house because he sticks to his wife even when she wants to sweep him outside, which is very insulting to us, the elderly.
