TEXT PASSAGE: 전도서(Ecclesiastes) 12:8-14, [개역개정:NIV]

8.전도자가 이르되 헛되고 헛되도다 모든 것이 헛되도다 9.전도자는 지혜자이어서 여전히 백성에게 지식을 가르쳤고 또 깊이 생각하고 연구하여 잠언을 많이 지었으며 10.전도자는 힘써 아름다운 말들을 구하였나니 진리의 말씀들을 정직하게 기록하였느니라 11.지혜자들의 말씀들은 찌르는 채찍들 같고 회중의 스승들의 말씀들은 잘 박힌 못 같으니 다 한 목자가 주신 바이니라 12.내 아들아 또 이것들로부터 경계를 받으라 많은 책들을 짓는 것은 끝이 없고 많이 공부하는 것은 몸을 피곤하게 하느니라 13.일의 결국을 다 들었으니 하나님을 경외하고 그의 명령들을 지킬지어다 이것이 모든 사람의 본분이니라 14.하나님은 모든 행위와 모든 은밀한 일을 선악 간에 심판하시리라. [NIV] 8."Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Everything is meaningless!" 9.Not only was the Teacher wise, but also he imparted knowledge to the people. He pondered and searched out and set in order many proverbs. 10.The Teacher searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true. 11.The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails--given by one Shepherd. 12.Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body. 13.Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. 14.For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

 

Question: 모든 사람의 본분은 무엇인가? – What is the whole duty of man?

 

OUTLINE: 이것이 모든 사람의 본분이니라.(This is the whole duty of man.)

1.      모든 것이 헛됨을 기억하라. - Remember that everything is meaningless.

2.      하나님의 말씀을 마음에 새겨라. - Engrave God's Word in your heart.

3.      지음 받은 자로서의 본분을 다하라. - Fulfill your duty as a creature.

 

CONCLUSION: 사랑하는 성도들이 모든 사람의 본분인 하나님을 경외하고 그의 명령들을 지켜며 살아가시기를 간절히 소원합니다.

전도서(Ecclesiastes) 12:1-8, [현대인의 성경] 1.너는 아직 젊을 때, 곧 고난의 날이 오기 전에, 아무 낙이 없다고 말할 때가 되기 전에 너의 창조자를 기억하라. 2.네가 너무 늙어 해와 달과 별이 보이지 않고 슬픔이 떠날 날이 없을 때 그를 기억하려고 하면 늦을 것이다. 3.그때에는 너를 보호하던 팔도 떨 것이며 지금 강한 너의 다리도 약해질 것이다. 그리고 이빨이 거의 다 빠져 음식을 잘 씹지 못할 것이며 눈은 어두워서 보지 못할 것이다. 4.귀는 어두워서 거리에서 들려오는 소리를 듣지 못할 것이며 음식을 씹는 소리가 적을 것이다. 그리고 깊은 잠을 자지 못할 것이며 음성도 떨릴 것이다. 5.그때 너는 높은 곳을 두려워할 것이며 걷는 것도 위험할 것이다. 머리는 온통 희어지고 거동하기가 불편해서 몸을 제대로 끌고 다닐 수 없을 것이며 모든 의욕과 정욕은 사라질 것이다. 그렇게 되면 결국 조객들이 네 집을 찾아들 날도 멀지 않을 것이다. 6.은줄이 끊어지고 몸의 모든 기능이 정지되며 7.육은 본래의 흙으로 돌아가고 영은 그것을 주신 하나님께로 돌아가기 전에 너의 창조자를 기억하라. 8.전도자가 말한다. '헛되고 헛되며 모든 것이 헛될 뿐이다!' 1.Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them"- 2.before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain; 3.when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop, when the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through the windows grow dim; 4.when the doors to the street are closed and the sound of grinding fades; when men rise up at the sound of birds, but all their songs grow faint; 5.when men are afraid of heights and of dangers in the streets; when the almond tree blossoms and the grasshopper drags himself along and desire no longer is stirred. Then man goes to his eternal home and mourners go about the streets. 6.Remember him--before the silver cord is severed, or the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, or the wheel broken at the well, 7.and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. 8."Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Everything is meaningless!"

   Memento Mori = Remember death, Remember that you (have to) die = 죽음을 기억하라.

1.      너의 창조주를 기억하라. - Remember your Creator.

2.      너의 죽음을 기억하라. - Remember your death.

      3.      모든 것이 헛됨을 기억하라. - Remember that everything is meaningless.
